About This Content General Electric’s “Dash 7” line of diesel locomotives was introduced in 1976 and promised better fuel efficiency, and improved reliability as compared to GE’s older generation of famed “U-boats.” The first of the GE Dash 7 line to enter production was the six-axle, 3,000-horsepower C30-7 and the type would also prove the most popular and successful of GE’s Dash 7s, with 1,078 units constructed through 1986. The C30-7 utilized a 16-cylinder version of GE’s proven four-cycle 7FDL-series diesel power plant, stretched 67-feet, 3 inches in length and, depending upon customer specifications, weighed in between 359,000 and 420,000 pounds. The husky GE, which could be employed in a variety of mainline services, was purchased by nine original customers. Among its U. S. buyers, two predecessors of today’s CSX – the Louisville & Nashville and Seaboard Coast Line – purchased a total of 95 C30-7s and it is in CSX’s classic blue, yellow, and gray “YN2” livery that the C30-7 is now available for Train Simulator duty.Virtual Rail Creations (VRC) has created the CSX C30-7 for Train Simulator in an authentic model with advanced controls and a variety of interactive operating features. The CSX C30-7 offers standard and advanced start-up features and is provided in clean and weathered CSX liveries. It also features a working HOT (head-of-train) and EOT (end-of-train) device. ALL PANELS AND CONTROLS ARE FUNCTIONALREALISTIC ENGINE START UP. Well i have got to say i have never had a VRC pro engine only a fef-3 from smoke box, i have got to say this is a realistic engine, very worth it, but i say it's easy for some reason. Pros- Good Scenarios with it, nice smooth operation, realistic sounds on outside and inside, realistic weathered freight cars, air hoses on the freight\/engine, makes it feel like you are acctually driving a train. Cons- Bad horn and bell, cannot really make it up hill if you go fast with it, easy startup, too weathered freight cars, does not come in simple format\/ medium diffculty train format. So yes this is a really good train to have! keep up the great work virtual rail creations!. Aw, man.....I just hate being a wet blanket. I really had high hopes and expectations for this DLC. I mean, it comes from VRC, right? It had to be good, right?Overall, I can recommend it. There's just a couple of things that bothered me. The gauges just look, well....bad. The only way I can explain it is they look cartoonish. Not to my liking. My only other complaint is the total lack of engine noise in the cab. Let's be realistic. You are sitting just a few feet from a thundering, 3000 horse diesel engine. You ARE going to hear it. Maybe I'm just a bit too picky in my old age. All in all, not that bad of a DLC. I'll get my fair share of use from it.. very good loco add on ,lots of details, even the radio in the cab works .10 out of 10 for this model loco.. Aw, man.....I just hate being a wet blanket.
